Ori — The Future of Robotic Furniture
I don’t know about you but I have always wanted to live in a cute, small apartment in a busy city; my own small living space. See, but the problem with that is that those cute, small apartments are VERY small. And most often than not, they’re also unreasonably expensive for such a small living space.
Luckily Ori, a robotics interior furniture company, is already working on solving this problem. That’s right, you heard me : a ROBOTICS 🤖furniture company. Ori uses robotics to make compact, mobile furniture to help optimize the space you have, especially in those adorably small apartments.

Ori 101
So far, Ori has 5 different products up for sale:
To move around the furniture, you use:
- Ori Square: a small pad attached to the unit that manipulate the units with simple touch-commands
- Ori app: the app has a similar use to the Ori Square, but it’s just on your phone
- Google Home/Amazon Alexa: connect your home devices and you can move the furniture with your voice
I cannot be the only one who thinks this is out of some science fiction novel… it’s so crazy! 🤯
All the units can be easily assembled and only need to be plugged in a nearby outlet.
And if you’re concerned about being crushed in-between the units, don’t worry because Ori already thought of that. ✔
Through obstacle protection, all the units stop moving when you apply about 2-fingers worth of force on them. That’s pretty easy, right?
On top of this, if you’re asking “what happens when the power goes out…?” Again, Ori’s got you. All the units will automatically go into manual-mode when disconnected from electricity so you can still access your things and furniture by manually pushing the units.

Ori’s Future
Ori realizes that the main concerns for urban living spaces is that square footage is expensive but more and more people are moving to urban cities.
Ori plans to integrate their technology in more apartment buildings and maybe even work spaces. They want to optimize the space people can have with their living spaces.
Through this, we can get one step closer to modern cities. 🧠
